Where to drop off and pick up your rental van in Avila?

You can pick up and drop off your Furauto van rental in Avila or in many other Spanish cities, such as Burgos, Leon, Ponferrada, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid.

Why visit Avila?

Because in Avila it is still possible to enjoy the best preserved intact wall in Spain. Undoubtedly, this construction is the most appreciated symbol of the city and its hallmark. Built between the 11th and 14th centuries, it is also considered the "largest fully illuminated monument in the world".

Both the Wall and the churches of San Vicente, San Andrés, San Pedro and San Segundo were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1985. 22 years later, this consideration was extended to the churches of Santo Tomás, Santa María de la Cabeza, San José, San Martín and San Nicolás.

Ávila is also known for its exceptional gastronomy. During your visit to the city, don't forget to try the beans from El Barco, the patatas revolconas or the chuletón de Ávila, whose meat has a protected geographical indication. Those with a sweet tooth can eat the yemas de Santa Teresa, from the bakery "La Flor de Castilla".

Get to know the province of Avila

In addition to visiting the capital, your rental van will allow you to travel comfortably throughout the geography of Avila in the company of your family or friends. Although there are many places to highlight, below you will find five very interesting municipalities:

Arenas de San Pedro

The N-502 connects the capital of Avila with this town, inhabited by 6,600 inhabitants. The route covers 82 kilometers, so you should have approximately one hour and twenty minutes. Once here do not miss the Castle of the Triste Condesa, the Palace of the Infante Don Luis de Borbón and the Aquelcabos Bridge. The municipality also has an exceptional natural heritage. Special mention should be made of the Cuevas del Águila, discovered in December 1963.

Bonilla de la Sierra

Avila and Bonilla de la Sierra are separated by 57 kilometers, a journey that you can comfortably make by the N-110. This small town of 123 inhabitants has a magnificent heritage. For this reason, the town was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1983.

El Barco de Avila

A little more than 83 kilometers away, although driving along the same road, is El Barco de Ávila. This town of 2,400 inhabitants and located in the heart of the Tormes valley is mentioned in Ernest Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls". Among all its cultural heritage, the Romanesque Bridge, the Castle, the Walls, the Jail Building and the Clock House stand out.

Madrigal de las Altas Torres

In this municipality Isabel of Castile was born in 1451, so a visit to the Birthplace of Isabel the Catholic is a must. In addition, you should not miss its Wall, the Ruins of the Convent of Agustinos, the Hospital de la Purísima Concepción or the churches of San Nicolás de Bari, Santa María del Castillo and Nuestra Señora del Rosario.

Piedrahíta

Drive your rental van along the N-110 for 63 kilometers. In just under an hour you can begin to enjoy this town, populated by about 1,800 residents. Piedrahíta is home to the Palace of the Dukes of Alba, the Church of the Assumption, the Convent of the Carmelites and the Ruins of the Convent of Santo Domingo.
