Aluiler de coches en San Sebastian

The capital of Guipuzcoa, known in Eusquera as Donostia, has a population of more than 186,000 inhabitants. Located in a privileged enclave, it is situated 20 kilometers from the French border and is bathed by the Bay of La Concha and the Cantabrian Sea.

Currently, Donostia is considered one of the best cities to visit in summer. It will be for its magnificent buildings, its wide cultural offer or its wonderful beaches. The truth is that many tourists visit the capital of Gipuzkoa every year. And, of course, its streets are even more crowded with the celebration of the International Film Festival of San Sebastian and its Jazz Festival.

Hiring your rental car in Donostia is one of the most comfortable and cheapest ways to move around the city without complications during a business trip or those long awaited vacations. In Furauto we work every day to offer you a wide range of vehicles at an unbeatable price. Enter the web or call us to inform you about the conditions of service and make your reservation.

How to get to San Sebastian

  • Plane: If you want to get to San Sebastian by plane, you have three possibilities.
Donostia Airport is located 20 kilometers from the center and, from this terminal, it is possible to travel to Madrid and Barcelona. Biarritz Airport is 40 kilometers from the center of San Sebastian and Bilbao Airport is 100 kilometers away. The latter two provide domestic and international flights.
  • By train: The North Station, which is in the center of the city, receives RENFE trains from all parts of Spain and Europe. In addition, San Sebastian has the Eusko Tren.
  • By Road: Next to this station, the new bus stop of the city has also been set up. Donostia is connected, through it, with most Spanish and some European cities.
It is also possible to arrive by car through the following accesses:
  • N-1. Madrid- Lasarte-Oria: From this point, the road changes its name to GI-20, the San Sebastian beltway.
  • A-15. Leizarán Highway. Pamplona-San Sebastián: The northern section of this road links Irurzun (Navarra) with Astigarraga (Guipúzcoa). Here it is possible to take the GI-41 to enter San Sebastian from the south.
  • A-63. Bordeaux-Irun: The autoroute A63 leaves from the French city to Irun/Biriatou.

  • AP-1. Autopista del Norte. Castañares (Burgos) - Éibar (Guipúzcoa): It runs along the Alto Deva until it merges, in the town of Guipúzcoa, with the AP-8.

Where to park your rental car in San Sebastián

Parking your rental car in San Sebastian can be difficult, depending on the area in which you move. Obviously, it will be quite difficult to park in the center of the city. Remember that Donostia is very well connected, so you may prefer to leave your car a little out of the city center and take public transportation.

The city has about 6,000 parking spaces, but many of them are regulated. The City Council has enabled a map to know the location of these parking spaces, their rates and schedules.

From Furauto we recommend that you park your vehicle in one of the subway parking lots that we show you in the following link. In addition, the city has several park-and-ride lots. Free or reduced-price parking areas connected to the center by the capital's bus network.

What is the traffic like in San Sebastian?

As you can imagine, rainfall is quite frequent in San Sebastian. In these conditions it is normal that the risk of being involved in a traffic accident increases, so we recommend that you drive more slowly and with greater caution to avoid skidding on the road.

With the arrival of summer and the summer vacations, you will have to be patient with the traffic jams that form in the metropolitan areas and city accesses. The A8 and the A63 are particularly problematic.
