Get to know Leganés with your rental car

Welcome to Leganés. A town from which you can travel throughout the Community of Madrid and even travel to other Spanish provinces with total freedom. Discover the parks, the culture and the atmosphere of this town at your own pace without complications.

This city has a lot of history. Founded with the name of Legamar in 1280 during the reign of Alfonso X the Wise, Leganés became part of Madrid, as a village, in 1345. It became a villa in 1627 thanks to Felipe IV and maintained this status until 1820.

In the mid-twentieth century, like other nearby towns, it experienced an unprecedented demographic increase, so it came to be considered a dormitory town. Today, Leganés is home to more than 186,000 people.

In addition to having enclaves of great relevance, such as the Sabatini Building, the Psychiatric Hospital or the Polvoranca Park, Leganés has a soccer team, Club Deportivo Leganés, which climbed to first division in the 2016-2017 season.

Among the outstanding Leganés residents we have the cyclist Carlos Sastre, the taekwondists Eva Calvo and Marta Calvo and the footballers José Luis Pérez Caminero and Dani Carvajal.Welcome to Leganés.
